This Manchester letter Q tile celebrates the Manchester Ship Canal which opened in 1894. The Ship Canal’s docks and quays were located in both the cities of Salford and Manchester, and in their heyday became Britain’s third largest port. Each tile is handrolled and glazed in the ceramic heartland of Stoke before the artwork is fired in Manchester.
