The Manchester Tiles Letter A – Affleck’s Palace

This Affleck’s Palace ceramic tile celebrates the Northern Quarter’s beating heart, where the shopping emporium was once a meeting place for the young and alternative to immerse themselves in a labyrinth of clothing, music, and art. Over time it became the wellspring of an exciting generation of musicians, designers, and entrepreneurs, shaped by their eclectic diet of vinyl, vintage, and counterculture vibes.
Rendered in our distinctive pen and ink style, the A tile design doesn’t simply show Affleck’s as it was – it depicts an empty market place, one waiting to be filled by the needs of these commodities which satisfied an unquenchable desire for the alternative.
Each Affleck’s Palace tile is designed in Manchester, hand-rolled and glazed in the UK’s ceramic heartland of Stoke-on-Trent, before returning north for artwork firing. The result is a finely crafted ceramic tile that feels both rooted and modern — a distinctive decorative piece celebrating Manchester’s identity.
Perfect for framing, feature walls, kitchens, bathrooms, or as part of a larger tiled installation.
