The Manchester Tiles Letter C – Cotton

This Manchester ceramic tile letter C celebrates two centuries when Manchester was cotton and cotton was Manchester. So significant was the city’s role in the global trade that it was given the nickname Cottonopolis. Plenty of evidence of this towering past still exists in the exuberance and confidence of its Victorian architecture. The C Tile depicts an orderly civic culture emerging from the sooty and unhealthy deprivation that underwrote the profits made through cotton manufacture.
Rendered in our distinctive pen and ink style, the C itself is interwoven with the organic and the mechanical. Under a smoke-thick sky, the gentrified landscape is inextricable from the dirty business enabling it.
Each Manchester ceramic tile letter C is designed in Manchester, hand-rolled and glazed in the UK’s ceramic heartland of Stoke-on-Trent, before returning north for artwork firing. The result is a finely crafted ceramic tile that feels both rooted and modern — a distinctive decorative piece celebrating Manchester’s identity.
Perfect for framing, feature walls, kitchens, bathrooms, or as part of a larger tiled installation.
